The Peg Leg Update is a monthly magazine targeting and providing space to all varieties of knowledgeable folk in the Upper Midwest.
We started publishing our print editions in the fall of 2009. ThePegLeg.com hosts magazine archives and fresh, new content.
Writers and artists holding wide-ranging opinions and viewpoints contribute to The Peg Leg. Our mission is to entertain and educate our readers and community through traditional and modern, creative avenues.
Wilmot Brookings, the “founder” of the great city of Brookings, lost his legs to frostbite resulting from a mid-winter carriage accident. In honor of our area’s heritage, and poking a bit of fun at widely accepted Midwest conventions of life on the prairie, we named our venture The Peg Leg Update.
You can submit.
We accept all unsolicited submissions, but publishing discretion is left up to the staff. We ask for articles, on any topic really, to be between 400 and 1,500 words. The Peg Leg Update also accepts artistic submissions of poetry, short stories, art and photography.
